Culinary Heaven In Harlem
Last Sunday, I went to a great restaurant that I had been to once before in my recollection. The restaurant was entitled the Harlem Tavern. It is in the neighborhood of Morningside Heights. From the second that I had walked in the restaurant, I was instantly amazed not only by the mouth-watering aroma of the food and the delicious selection of items that were listed on the menu, but also by the musicians performing a beautiful selection of music that sounded like it was directly from the Harlem Renaissance. That aspect of the restaurant had instantly reminded me of a great vegan-friendly Ethiopian restaurant entitled Caffe Buna that lies right on the border of the Brooklyn neighborhoods of Williamsburg and Bushwick. They play great Ethiopian music with Ethiopian instruments in addition to the delicious food. However, I digress. Although it was a very tough choice to decide what to order from the abundance of options on the menu that had looked very appetizing, being particularly in the mood for seafood ultimately led to me deciding to order their seafood gumbo. It was a seafood stew consisting of shrimp, crayfish, Italian sausage, and yellow rice with a biscuit on the side. Once I received the meal, I commenced eating right away. I licked the plate clean. Aside from the fact that I was very hungry, the meal itself was also very enjoyable. It was filling just to the right extent. I had just experienced what I like to call Culinary Heaven in Harlem.
