An Amazing Ethiopian Meal
Last Friday, I went to an Ethiopian restaurant that I have frequented quite a bit over the past years entitled Awash. The restaurant is located in the East Village and I would say is one of my favorite Ethiopian restaurants in all of New York City. Because I have been to this restaurant countless times, I had high expectations of the food. I ended up ordering the Yebeg Alicha, which is lamb in a butter sauce, beans, and vegetables smeared on a rolled-out Injera bread, which is the sponge-like bread that is traditional in Ethiopian restaurants. I also ordered a barbajado, which is an Ethiopian mixture of coffee, chocolate, and milk. The Yebeg Alicha is one of the meals that I typically order at an Ethiopian restaurant. However, this was the first time I tried the barbajado. The food was prepared very well, tasted great, and was perfectly filling. The service was also very fast and efficient. I am happy to say that the Yebeg Alicha definitely met my expectations. The barbajado was also great and was perfect to drink on a relatively cold day like last Friday. I left the restaurant feeling perfectly full and satisfied.
